Applications of Derivatives
Objectives:
- Approximate f(x) and change in f(x) using a linear approximation.
- Be able to apply the Mean Value Theorem.
- Be able to apply the Extreme Value Theorem.
- Be able to find critical points.
- Find the intervals on which a function is increasing or decreasing.
- Find the intervals on which a function is concave up or concave down.
- Use the Second Derivative Test to find extrema.
- Sketch functions and their derivatives.
- Find limits using L’Hopital’s Rule.
- Use Newton’s Method to find values.
- Solve optimization problems.
- Find the antiderivative.
